Obituary of Betty J. McCann

Betty J. McCann, 85, of Farmingdale passed away at home surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer on Saturday, November 4, 2017.  She was born and raised in Fords and settled in Farmingdale in 1997. Betty worked as a secretary for General Cable and Exxon Mobil.  Her greatest accomplishment was raising her family. She was an active member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and the Catholic Women of Zion.  Betty enjoyed cooking, reading, and history. She also loved to spend time with her childhood friend group, the Jumping Jills.

Betty was predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Elizabeth Molnar; brothers, Alexander and William Molnar; and daughter, Susan Elizabeth McCann.  She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Cedric J. McCann of Farmingdale; daughters, Cathy Sabo and her husband, Mike of Howell, Karen Utz and her husband, Jeff of Farmingdale, and Mary Schuld and her husband, Joseph of Farmingdale; 14 grandchildren; a great grandson; and many nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 9:00 AM for the procession to her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 31 Asbury Road, Farmingdale.  Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, 899 East Lincoln Avenue, Piscataway.  Memorial contributions in Betty’s name may be made to ChildsFund International, 2821 Emerywood Parkway, Richmond, Virginia 23294.
