Obituary of Louis E. Milchman

Louis E. Milchman, 69, of Bradley Beach passed away peacefully on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick.  Lou was born and raised in Newark.  He was a graduate of Weequahic High School.  Lou graduated from Newark State College and was a member of the Nu Sigma Phi Fraternity.  He had lived in Springfield and moved to Israel to try his hand at farming.  Lou returned to New Jersey, settling in Bradley Beach to raise his family.  He was the owner of Milchman Graphics and Printing for over twenty-five years until his retirement.  Prior to that, Lou was an Industrial Arts teacher at Howell High School, for the Bradley Beach Board of Education and the Asbury Park High School.  He took great honor in being a 32nd Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite for twenty-five years as a member of the Peninsula Lodge No. 99, formerly Menorah Lodge No. 249, Bayonne.  Lou was a Renaissance Man, not relying on others to figure it out for him.  Walking hand-in-hand in life with his wife, Sherry, they raised three amazing children and were proud grandparents of seven adoring grandchildren.

Lou was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Helen Milchman; his step-father, Sam Zimmerman; a sister and brother-in-law, Flora and Dr. Pasqualino Ioffreda; and a grandson, Nathaniel Milchman.  He is survived by his wife, Sherry; children, Ruth Brodzinski of Toms River, Ari Milchman and his wife, Rivka of Fair Haven, and Jason Milchman and his wife, Nicole of Howell; grandchildren, Kyler, Mykala, Brynley, Daniel, Lior, Jackson, and Mackenzie; a sister, Judith Weiss and her husband, Harvey of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service was held at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge.  Arrangements by Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, NJ.  The family will observe Shiva at 506 Evergreen Avenue, Bradley Beach, NJ 07720 on Sunday, March 4, 2018 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM; Monday, March 5, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM; Tuesday, March 6, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM; and Wednesday, March 7, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.  For those who desire, memorial contributions in Lou’s name may be made to either the Shriners Hospitals for Children 2900 Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, FL 33607, the Popcorn Park Zoo, One Humane Way, Forked River, NJ   08731, or The TEARS Foundation, 1924 State Highway 35, Suite 9C, Old Tudor Village, Wall, NJ 07719.  For information, directions or condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com.
