Obituary of Leon R. Rygiel

Leon R. “Lee” Rygiel, 57, of Freehold Township passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township.  He was born in Newark, raised in Clark, and settled in Freehold Township in 1986.  Lee worked for Dun & Bradstreet in Short Hills prior to working as a computer analyst for FYI Business Solutions in Parsippany for the past 15 years. As an active parishioner of the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, Lee was a Eucharistic minister and served on many ministries at the church.  He most recently introduced the Alpha ministries at the Co-Cathedral.  Lee was a proud member of the NRA and was largely involved in the competitive shooting community.  He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Freehold Council 1672. Lee was a devoted animal lover and a friend of Bill W.

Lee was predeceased by his parents, Leon V. Rygiel in 2005 and Barbara D. Rygiel in 2011; a sister, Kathleen A. Gulledge; and a nephew, Justin R. Gulledge.  He is survived by his sister, Cindy L. Rygiel of Sayreville; aunt, Marilyn Poland of Florence, SC; nephews, Anthony Basile of Hiltonhead, SC and Peter Basile of Asheville, NC; many cousins, other relatives, and dear friends; and his faithful feline companions, Buddy and Bobby.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 9:00 AM for the procession to his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.
