Obituary of Sol Fuchs
SOL FUCHS, 82, of FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Burnt Tavern Rehabilitation & Health Care, Brick. Mr. Fuchs was born in New York City and had lived in Brooklyn, N.Y. and Jackson before moving to Silvermead, Freehold Township, in 1984. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a member of the Silvermead Community Club, Freehold Township. Mr. Fuchs was the head baker at Rutgers University for 18 years, retiring in 1982.
He was predeceased by his brother, Hyman Fuchs; and his sister, Rose Beskin. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; a son, David Fuchs Sr. of Lexington Park, Md.; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Edward Carroll of Jackson; three grandchildren, Katherine Powell, Lt. David Fuchs Jr., and Courtney Carroll; five great-grandchildren; and two stepsons.
Visiting hours will be from 9 a.m. Friday until his funeral service at 10 a.m. at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Friends and relatives are invited to attend. Interment to follow in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
