Obituary of Anita Piccolino
Anita Piccolino, 64, passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, June 13th, 2022 in Freehold, New Jersey. Anita was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and came to the United States with her parents, Catharina and Irineu, and siblings, Helena and John, in 1960, beginning their new lives in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn. She then enjoyed a life of fulfillment on Staten Island, raising her family of five with her then husband, Vito Piccolino, always surrounded by many friends and beloved family members. Anita achieved many of her dreams. She became the proud business owner of The Corner Store, a bustling cafe where her sons and family worked together, including her mother, who happily supplied the store with her delicious home-made calzones, macaroni salads and so much more. She then changed gears to work for Merrill Lynch/Bank of America in Manhattan’s Financial District, where she had years of success and quite a few friends. She relished in her time at Bradley Beach, New Jersey and absolutely loved going to Key West, Florida. Anita had a beautiful, illuminating smile and enjoyed a good laugh. She was witty and always remained positive. She was so loved and regarded by her many nieces and nephews as the, “fun Aunt”. Among her hobbies were gardening, as she especially loved pink flowers, dancing and listening to the Beatles. Anita will be remembered as a very devoted daughter, sister, aunt and mother whose life was dedicated to her three sons. She was the best mom a child could ask for, and was so proud of her children’s extensive achievements; two being business owners and fathers and one being a pharmacist and guitar player. She is finally enjoying her three beautiful grandchildren and is able to joyfully watch over all of those who have carried her in their warm embraces throughout these years.
Anita was predeceased by her mother, Catharina Marcondes. She is survived by her three sons, Nicholas Piccolino of Cranford, Andrew Piccolino and his wife, Maria, of Manalapan, and Matthew Piccolino of Staten Island; three grandchildren, Paul, Markella, and John; her father, Irineu Marcondes; two siblings, Helena Dolan and her husband, Sean, of Staten Island and John Marcondes and his wife, Julie, of Point Pleasant; two nieces, Melissa Dolan and Melinda Dolan; three nephews, John Marcondes, Jr. and his wife, Kristyn, James Marcondes and Joseph Marcondes; a great nephew, Daniel; and numerous cousins, other family members and friends.
