Obituary of Lois B. Tiewski
Lois B. Tiewski, 89, of Howell passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 9, 2023. Lois was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey and was raised and had lived in Woodbridge her whole life. She was a 56 year resident of 182 Decker Place before moving to Howell in 2020 to live closer to her daughters. Lois worked as a bookkeeper for Venezia & Nolan Law Offices and the Perth Amboy Parking Authority until her retirement. During those years, she owned and operated Heavenly Caterer's Deli in Avenel with her three close friends. An amazing cook and hostess, Lois had an excitement for the holidays. She was a former parishioner of St. James Catholic Church and along with her husband spent many days at the VFW Post #7164 in Avenel and the American Legion Post #87 in Woodbridge. Lois loved games of chance, either on the Point Pleasant Boardwalk, Monmouth Park, a lottery machine, or even charity raffles. Needles to say, "she was lucky". She was skilled at the game of Mahjong and truly cared for all her dogs. Yet her love was for her family and especially being a "Grandma". Gram and Pop - Pop Dick Tiewski loved every weekend when the grandkids came to visit.
Lois was predeceased by her husband, Richard F. Tiewski in 2006 and a grandson, Richard Zachary Tiewski in 2017. She is survived by her three children, Tracey Tiewski and her wife, Alyse Karasik of Howell, Richard Scott Tiewski and his wife, Rae Ann of Sandia Park, NM, and Jamie Virzi of Howell. Lois has 7 grandchildren; twins, Noah Karasik-Tiewski and Joshua Karasik-Tiewski, Ashley Virzi, Jamie Morris, Johnna DeAguero and Dustin White; and her only great grandchild, Madison Acosta.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, March 16, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 11:00 AM Funeral Service at the funeral home on Friday, March 17, 2023. Interment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, 53 Inman Avenue, Colonia.
