Obituary of Harry Astorita

HARRY ASTORITA, 77, of JACKSON, passed away Saturday, Jan. 26 at home. Affectionately known as "Pop," Harry was born in Bronx, N.Y., before moving to Iselin, and for the past 8 years he resided in Jackson. He worked and retired from the New York City Transit Authority. Pop is remembered for his great stories and love of his family. His passions were his dog, Shotzie, his boat and hunting. Harry was predeceased by his beloved wife, Catherine; and sister, Rita. He is survived by his children, Carol and her husband, Scott, William and his wife, Maureen, and Paul and his wife, Naomi; siblings Carol, Douglas and Diane; grandchildren Kathleen, Cheryl, Stefanie, Jamie, Lauren and David; great-grandson Noah; and five step-grandchildren Dale, Kristen, Matthew, Samantha and Justin. Visiting is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the funeral home 11 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery Colonia.
