Nicolina Cicchino, 93,  of Freehold Township, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 25, 2025 surrounded by her family.  Born in Castelpetroso, Province of Iserna, Italy, Nicolina came to the United States in 1951, settling in Newark.  She had lived in Kearny, Irvington and Scotch Plains, before moving to Freehold Township in 1992.   A woman of faith, she was a devout catholic and parishioner of the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, Freehold Township as well as a member of the Rosary Makers group for ten years. Nicolina will always be remembered for her faith, kindness and generosity.  She valued hard work and was known for her incredible gardening skills.  Nicolina relished her time spent in her garden where she grew countless vegetables. She loved sharing the fruits of her labor with friends and relatives, as well as her unforgettable lasagna and other Italian specialties. Nicolina was proud of her American citizenship and the life she built here with her late husband of 64 years, Salvatore.

She was predeceased by husband, Salvatore and her sister, Maria Cicchino.  She is survived by her son, Domenic and his wife, Bonita Cicchino of Freehold Township; grandchildren, Jessica Cicchino and her husband, Robert Oberreuter, of Washington, DC and Michael Cicchino of Freehold Township (who as one of her caregivers in her final days provided great comfort to her); and nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins and friends.  

Nicolina’s memory will live in the hearts of all who knew her forever. 

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 9:30 AM for the procession to her 10:30 AM Funeral Mass  at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.
