Obituary of Lennie Mary Gann

Lennie Mary Gann, 78, of Wall Township, NJ passed away on Saturday January 25, 2025.  Lennie was born in Newburgh, NY to Phyllis and Warren Power on July 11, 1946. As a military family Lennie and her brother Michael lived in many places in the United States and abroad, before moving to Wall Township, where Lennie graduated from Wall Township High School in 1964. Lennie married her husband William J. Seaman, in 1968 and had a beautiful life together with their four children. Lennie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and leader in her career, as a Nurse Practitioner. Lennie specialized in geriatric and psychiatric nursing, earning degrees in nursing from Brookdale Community College in 1973, Stockton State in 1980, and an advanced degree from Seton Hall University in 1981.  Throughout her career Lennie was an adjunct professor of Nursing at Monmouth and Stockton State College. Lennie retired from the State of NJ, serving on the executive team at Trenton Psychiatric Hospital as their Director of Nursing in 2005.

Lennie was a bright light who touched so many. She was a fierce spirit who cared deeply for her family.  She was a loving wife, devoted to caring for her husband William (Bill) until he died in 2004. Lennie was cherished by Bill.  He deeply loved and admired everything about her, especially her quick wit.  Lennie was a loving mother who was ahead of her time, being right about almost everything.  She was also a great sister to her brother Mike, their relationship was special beyond measure. Together, they were quite a duo, and it was always fun to be in their company. Lennie was a very proud grandmother who loved her grandchildren dearly. She was a generous friend, and a great boss.

Lennie cared deeply about human rights, the environment, and animals. She invested her energy in things that truly mattered. Throughout her life Lennie was a volunteer for hospice, actively supported local efforts for the Sierra Club and Audubon Society, and as a volunteer for the Associated Humane Societies, she had a real soft spot for older animals in shelters. She was a routine adopter of senior dogs and cats, providing them comfort in their remaining years. Lennie was a beacon of compassion, committed to making life better, while setting an example for all of us.

In 2007 Lennie married Edward Gann. Ed was a doting husband to his beloved. Ed selflessly cared for Lennie on her journey through Alzheimer's until the day he died.   Lennie was a loving wife to Ed. They enjoyed many special adventures together, Lennie's favorite was living life with Ed in their lakeside cabin, in Medford, NJ.

She was predeceased by her parents Phyllis and Warren, her husbands William, and Edward, and her son Richard. Lennie is survived by her brother Michael Power and sister-in-law Judy, Ed's daughter Tara and son-in-law Justin, her beloved children, Barry and daughter-in-law Deidre, Tyrone, and Kim, and her five beautiful grandchildren, Christian, Hannah, Emma, Chelsea and Brielle.
