Obituary of Ronald Mattia
Ronald Mattia, 75, of Freehold Township passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. He was born in Newark, raised in Union, and had lived in Roselle Park and Edison before moving to Freehold 25 years ago. Ronald was a Managing Director at Merrill Lynch for over 16 years, where he ran his own institutional fund. His life was filled with many accomplishments, but none as great as meeting his future wife at a slot car race in Union Center at the age of 15. Another highlight of Ronald’s life was his involvement at CentraState Medical Center where he co-chaired charity events for the past 12 years. He was a loving and supportive uncle to his nieces and nephews, offering guidance and advice whenever it was asked of him. He was also known for hobbies such as reading, fitness, and sports betting. A habitual early riser, Ronald made daily visits to his mother-in-law Rita every morning at Applewood Estates. He was soft-spoken and kind to everyone he met.
Ronald is predeceased by his parents; Daniel and Vera Mattia who he lovingly helped care for in their later years. Ronald is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Mattia of Freehold; two brothers, Raymond Mattia and his wife, Cynthia of Freehold, Robert Mattia and his wife, Teresa of Freehold; and two brothers-in-law; Michael McEvoy and his wife, Darleen and Kenny McEvoy and his wife, Linda; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 12:00 to 3:30 PM with his memorial service to follow.
