Obituary of Genevieve Simon

Genevieve “Jean” Simon, 96, of Freehold Township passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Brandywine in Howell. She was born and raised in Brooklyn and settled here in 1965. Jean worked as a receptionist for E.S.P. for many years.  She was a voracious reader of anything she picked up.  Jean was well-educated and stressed the importance of this to her family.  A proponent of continuing education, she was proud to say all of her children earned doctorates, the pinnacle of educational attainment. More than anything, Jean was a devoted grandmother, supporting her grandchildren in all of their endeavors.  

She was predeceased by her husband, Herman Simon; and son, Henry Simon.  Jean is survived by her daughter, Gail Rothkopf and her husband, Michael; son, Robert Simon and his wife, Cathy; grandchildren, Amy and her husband, Henry, Rebecca and her husband, Sawyer, Zachary and his wife, Rebekah, Emily and her fiancé, Bryan, Charles, Liam, William and John; and great grandchildren, Levi, James and Jonah. 

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:30 AM Funeral Mass on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Interment will follow in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, 299 Freehold-Englishtown Road, Freehold.
