Condolences
I feel so lucky to have spent time with Uncle Bob. When we visited for a family reunion, he made me feel immediately at home and was unfailingly thoughtful and kind. Aunt Diane, it was so special to reconnect with you both in person at my wedding and I always looked forward to catching up over our Zoom calls. We really miss him.
Aunt Diane, Ken, and Jeanine, it was wonderful when we were all together in person - thank you for being so warm and welcoming. Thinking of you and sending all our love.
Love,
Morgan
As I wrote recently in an email to Bob and Diane, which will be read at the service, Bob embodied the wonderful loving and caring qualities that our Dad bestowed upon us. Bob was an unusual human being and will be sorely missed.
Bob had kept a photo album of numerous pictures passed on by our cousin, Grace. I've scanned all the photos and have added a few of my own.

My daughter, Morgan, prepared a photo album of our visit to New Jersey in 2015. She also included some photos from her wedding in 2016, which Bob and Diane attended.

These pictures bring back so many memories, which I'll always cherish.
Love,
John
From earliest childhood Bob manifested the exceptional good-heartedness and humor that made him so lovable all his life. As he grew, he became a central figure in our family, a loving son to our parents, and a uniquely wonder brother. After our father died, and our mother became ill, he willingly assumed critical responsibility for her care and management of her affairs. He later managed other family matters in a pleasant but most efficient manner.
When I think of Bob, I hope that the good he embodied will not perish, though he has passed, but will live on, not only in our memories, but in the deeds that we do when we are wise enough to emulate his goodness.
With fondest memories,
Tom
The American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr once wrote that "humor is a prelude to faith, and laughter is the beginning of prayer."
I believe that Niebuhr's characterization applied to our dear Bob's way of being.
My fondest memories of Bob are of his humor. His keen wit was a gift to all who came to know him.
Coming from a very different background, I was ill at ease when I joined the Ostrander family (by marrying Bob's brother Tom) nearly fifty-three years ago. I am grateful to Bob, in particular, for making me laugh and so to feel more at home. I am sure that my experience is shared by many others who had the good fortune to be in Bob's company.
Mourning Bob's passing and celebrating his life,
Ellen
I was so lucky to get to know Uncle Bob better when I went to visit him in 2015, and again when he came out to Calgary in 2017, and thanks to the power of technology, family zoom calls that allowed us to stay connected. I will cherish those times greatly. Sending my love, thoughts, and condolences. May he rest in peace. Robin
