Obituary of Robert K. Ostrander
Robert K. Ostrander, 69, of Freehold Township passed away on February 17, at his home surrounded by his loving wife, son, and daughter. Robert bravely fought an eight-year battle with cancer and wanted to be with them in his final moments. He was able to spend his last week at home with them, as well as his final couple of hours.
Robert had a strong passion for history and politics and had a degree in history from Glassboro. The Civil War period and Abraham Lincoln were his favorite parts of history, and he was often reading up on or catching the latest documentary for that time period.
He was an avid sports fan and was a longtime New York Giants and Los Angeles Lakers fan. He passionately followed every detail of those teams for decades, and really enjoyed watching them play in his man cave. In addition to sports, Robert really enjoyed relaxing while listening to music. He made different music mixes for every occasion such as holidays or different gatherings with friends and family. The list of his favorite music is endless, but his very favorites were the Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Sam Cooke.
His greatest passion was his family. Robert was a wonderful son, husband, father, brother, and friend to many. Family meant everything to him and Robert was always there for everyone. He also had a great love for animals and had a number of pets over the years that he treated like family. His favorites over the years were his dog, Casey and cat, Crystal.
He had worked at a number of different companies and spent most of his working years as a window sales specialist, working for Kolbe & Kolbe and Marvin Windows, among others.
Robert was predeceased by his father William M. Ostrander, mother Corrine Casey Ostrander, brother William C. Ostrander. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Diane Ostrander, son Kenneth Ostrander of Jackson and Jeanine Ostrander of Freehold and four brothers, Tom Ostrander, John Ostrander, Paul Ostrander and Mark Ostrander, as well as many in laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, and close friends.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 11:00 AM until his funeral service at 12:30 PM.
