Obituary of Barbara Fiolek

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Liddy Fiolek, 63, of Freehold Township who left us on Monday, February 25, 2025 surrounded by many of her cherished family members.  She was softly serenaded by her four aunts to An Irish Lullaby shortly before taking her last breath.   Barbara was born at St. Peters Medical Center in New Brunswick, grew up in Milltown and lived in North Brunswick and Nashville, TN before settling in Freehold NJ for the past 22 years.    A fan of the arts and culture she fully embodied music as a singer and performer.  Before taking on her most important role as Mom, she regularly graced many a theatre stage throughout New Jersey most notably as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady.   Barbara truly knew that it was more blessed to give than to receive and she relentlessly loved her family and friends.  She was a loving wife and mother where she was the cornerstone of her family. Barbara’s radiant smile and infectious laugh lit up any room she entered. She enjoyed going to the Jersey Shore, traveling, and especially loved spending time with her family and friends.  She recently vacationed for two weeks in Ireland seeing her native country and many of the sites of her ancestors.  Barbara loved visiting museums and enjoyed Broadway musicals.  She raised her sons to be appreciative of culture and to understand how important it is to be creative, as well as educated and athletic, in other words, being well-rounded young men.   

Barbara is survived by her adoring husband of 31 years, Paul Fiolek; her sons, Dylan, Ryan and Sean; parents, William and Margaret Liddy of Monroe; two brothers, William Liddy Jr. and his wife, Leslie of Parrish FL and Michael Liddy and his wife, Dawn of Gilbert AZ and nieces Erin Liddy and Megan Liddy; many aunts, uncles and numerous cousins with whom she holds special relationships with. 

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, March 2, 2025 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on March 3, 2025 at 9:30 AM for the procession to her 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.  Interment will be private.
