
Obituary of Lonnie C. Harms
Lonnie C. (Aulicino) Harms, of Freehold, NJ, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025 at the age of 82, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Brooklyn on October 31, 1942, she later moved to Flatbush Queens and then Wayne NJ where she graduated from Wayne High School in 1960. In 1963 she married the love of her life, William (Bill) Harms, and together they built a built a beautiful life filled with family, faith and friendship.
Lonnie is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Bill; her beloved son, Darrell Harms and his wife, Jennifer; and her treasured grandsons, Kyle and Connor, who brought endless joy to her life. She is also survived by her loving sister, Cynthia Murphy and her husband, Jack, as well as her cherished nephews Thomas and Shane.
Lonnie was predeceased by her dear parents Jeanette and Anthony Aulicino and her loving son, Keith Harms, whose memory she carried close to heart every day.
A woman of deep faith, Lonnie served as Eucharist and Bereavement Minister at St. Rose of Lima and St Robert’s Churches in Freehold, NJ. She found strength and purpose in her service and community and her church family was a source of great comfort and joy.
Lonnie especially loved spending time with her grandsons – playing cards, making them homemade applesauce, cheering them on at their sporting events and watching them grow into responsible young men. She also enjoyed their many hibachi dinners together, filled with laughter, stories, and unforgettable memories.
Her days were filled with laughter and warmth especially during times spent traveling with her husband Bill. Lonnie especially cherished their annual extended winter stays over the past 25-plus years on Singer Island, Florida, where the both of them wholeheartedly embraced being part of a close-knit seasonal community.
Lonnie shared an unbreakable bond with her sister Cynthia, her lifelong confidante, with whom she navigated countless adventures and loving memories. She also treasured the many close friendships she made through church and the Freehold community she called home for the past 48 years.
Lonnie will be remembered for her kind heart, unwavering faith, and the love she so generously shared with those around her.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, April 11, 2025 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 12:00 PM Funeral Mass on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Interment will follow in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, 299 Freehold-Englishtown Road, Freehold Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine Church.
