Louise Lombardo

Obituary of Louise Lombardo

Louise Lombardo, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was 98 years old.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Louise was one of seven children in a close-knit Italian American family. As a young woman, she worked in her father's beloved sandwich shop, where she first learned the values of hard work, community, and the joy of sharing good food—a gift she would carry throughout her life.

Louise was the cherished wife of the late Philip Lombardo, the love of her life, with whom she shared a joyful marriage of 66 years until his passing in 2015. They met on a blind date after his friend, Carl, suggested he get to know one of his two single sisters-in-law. He chose Louise, after Carl referred to her as 'the chubbier one." He knew from that moment he'd be well-fed for the rest of his life. Together, they raised their two children, Salvatore and Frances, in South Brooklyn. Louise worked in a local school cafeteria while Philip baked bread at a neighborhood bakery. Their home was always filled with warmth, love, and Louise’s unforgettable cooking. Her granddaughters will proudly remember her as the best cook in the world.

Family was everything to Louise. She was a loving mother, a proud and adoring grandmother to Salina and Marissa, and a doting great-grandmother to Sebastian and Valentina. Her home was a haven of warmth, laughter, and full plates, where everyone felt welcomed and cared for.

Louise had an extraordinary ability to make anyone feel special. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and radiant heart touched the lives of all who met her. She was a loyal friend, a generous neighbor, and a woman who led by quiet, powerful example—teaching those around her the value of love, humility, and grace.

She will be deeply missed, but her legacy lives on in the countless meals shared, stories told, and hearts forever changed by her presence.
