Obituary of Devin Anthony Capretta

Devin Anthony Capretta, 34, of Los Angeles, California, passed away on February 27, 2025, at Glendale Memorial Hospital.  Devin was born in Carteret, raised in Staten Island and had lived in Freehold before settling in California in 2019.  He graduated from Freehold Township High School in 2008, where he excelled in Varsity swimming and made lasting memories with his teammates. He also had a love for baseball and football, starting at a young age and sharing a special bond with his father who coached him during his childhood years. If Devin wasn’t playing a sport, he could be found on the sidelines of his sister’s games cheering them on. He had many accomplishments throughout his life, including attending West Virginia College and obtaining his associates degree from Brookdale Community College. Devin was a talented chef who found joy in cooking for his family and friends. His culinary creations brought people together and created lasting memories. In addition to his work as a chef, Devin also had a passion for music and was known for his skills as a DJ. He loved to travel and explore new places, always seeking out new adventures and experiences. Devin was a free spirit with a contagious smile, always happy and willing to brighten the day of those around him. He had a gift for helping others and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Devin's life was filled with challenges, but he faced them with courage and strength. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience and determination that will never be forgotten. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Devin is predeceased by his father, Christopher Capretta; and cousin, Jeffrey Capretta. He is survived by his mother, Maria Capretta of Freehold; two sisters, Teresa Capretta and Jennifer Capretta of Freehold; Uncle Jeffery Capretta and his wife, Camille; Aunt Fran Stern and her husband, Matthew; and cousins, Joseph, Zachary, Jackie and Jason; and lifelong friend, Jennifer Petrizzo.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM Memorial Mass at St. Gabriels Historical Church, 549 Route 520 (Newman Springs Road) on Thursday, June 19, 2025 with his Inurnment to follow.
