Obituary of Allen Thomas Ward

Allen Thomas Ward, 82, of Howell passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He was born and raised in Woodhaven, Queens, NY and had lived in Richmond Hill, NY and Valley Stream, NY before settling in Howell in 1975. Allen dropped out of college to serve his country during the Vietnam War in the Air Force. He later worked for many years at AT&T in Middletown as a Communications Executive. Allen was a devoted Eucharistic Minister at St. Veronica’s Church in Howell. His proudest achievement was being a coach and incredible supporter of his wife, children and grandchildren. Allen coached his children in soccer. He continued the tradition by coaching alongside his daughter Karen. He coached his granddaughter, Jacqueline, in soccer, and his grandson, Evan, in wrestling. His favorite soccer team was the Tottenham Hotspur F.C. a team in England he would get up at all hours to watch. Allen enjoyed traveling the world and was a Giants and Mets fan. He had a love for reading, especially history and non-fiction, going to the movies and his wife’s cooking. Allen supported his granddaughter, Genevieve, on her love of reading, would talk to his grandson, James, about sports, and loved to support his grandson, Andrew, and his rugby. 

He was predeceased by his parents, James and Mary Baird Ward; and sister, Gail Manley née Ward. Allen is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Geraldine Ward; children, Lisa Ward White and her husband, Andrew, Karen Mary Peeke and her husband, Derek, and Christopher Allen Ward; grandchildren, Genevieve, Evan, Andrew, Jacqueline, and James; and nieces and nephews, Laura, Donna, Keith, Michael, Paul, Jennifer, and Mark.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Veronica Church, 4219 US-9, Howell Township. Interment will follow in Brigadier General William C. Doyle New Jersey Veteran Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Arneytown.
