
Obituary of William Clemens
William "Bill" Clemens, 78, of Howell Township passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. Bill was born in Newark. He was raised and had lived in Iselin before moving to Howell in 1977.
Bill served his country as a radar operator in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1967.
Retiring from the maintenance department at Princeton University in 2011, Bill worked as an electrician for fourteen dedicated years. Prior to working at Princeton, he worked at Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick and Kraft Foods in Hillside.
A man of deep faith, Bill was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Farmingdale. He had a passion for classic cars and spent many enjoyable days at Englishtown Raceway. Bill always read the newspaper and was a fan of Doo-Wop music, The Fonz and Elvis Presley. He proudly served as the President of the Snack Club with a particular fondness for Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Party Mix.
Above all, he was a devoted husband for 48 years, a loving father and adoring Pop Pop.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sandra; three children, Cheri Gargiulo and her husband, Nicholas of Freehold, William Clemens, Jr. and his wife, Allison of Howell, and Brian Clemens and his wife, Melissa of New Egypt; seven grandchildren, twins, Jacob and Kathryn, Richard, Ellisa, Brandon, Aiden, and Cameron; four siblings, Virginia French, Mary Agres, Joseph Clemens, and John Clemens; and his faithful canine companion, Mr. Harley.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, June 16, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at 9:30 AM for the procession to his 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 31 Asbury Road, Farmingdale. Interment will follow in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Arneytown, NJ.
