
Obituary of Dan Mako
Daniel Felix Mako, Jr., 82, of Freehold passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born and raised in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn, was stationed in Scott Air Force Base in Illinois from 1964-1968, and settled in Freehold in 1971. Dan worked many years as a Computer Analyst and in his later years worked in Real Estate. He enjoyed challenging his mind by playing poker and chess. Dan had a true passion for singing and barbershop. On Tuesday’s, he would meet up with his barber shop friends “The ROMEO’s” at Escondido’s and reminisce about their time together in the chorus. He was part of the choir at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church for over 30 years. Dan was most importantly a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother.
He was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Florence Mako; and brother, John Mako. Dan is survived by his beloved wife, Sylvia Mako; children, Daniel Martin Mako and his wife, Lisa, Matthew D. Mako and his wife, Kim, Christopher Mako and his wife, Kim, Madalyn P. Mako, and Andrea Sadlowski and her husband, Keith; grandchildren, Andrew, Morgan, Sean, Sarah, Rachel, Eric, and Alexa; great grandchildren, Theon and Atticus; and siblings, Mark and Marian.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:30 AM Memorial Mass on Friday, June 27, 2025 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 16 McLean Street, Freehold. Inurnment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, 169 West Main Street, Freehold.
