Obituary of Edmund M. Kipila

Edmund M. “Kip” Kipila, 75, of Freehold passed away on Sunday June 29, 2025, at his residence, with his family by his side. He was born in Perth Amboy and had lived in Laurence Harbor and Farmingdale before settling in Freehold last year. Kip worked at Verizon for 30 years, retiring in 2009. He was a man of many accomplishments, but above all, he was known for his big heart, large personality, and unwavering dedication to his family. Kip always put others before himself and was a source of strength and support for those around him. Music was Kip's passion, and it kept him going through the ups and downs of life. He also had a deep love for cars, especially his beloved El Camino, and was the proud owner of his own business called Kips Kustoms. Kip was an avid Yankee fan, was a loyal friend to many and will be deeply missed.

He is predeceased by his daughter, Carrie-Ann Kipila DelMonico; mother, Anna Kipila and brother, Michael Kipila. Kip is survived by his wife, Catherine Kipila; three children, Keith Swiakowski and his wife, Jane of PA, Brian Somma and his wife, Erin of Howell and Carly Kipila of Howell; five grandchildren, Miranda, Gabbie, Idan, Riley and AJ; great granddaughter, Peyton and brother, Tom Kipila and his wife, Sandy.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 9:30 AM for the procession to his 11:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Chapel, 31 Asbury Road, Farmingdale, NJ 07727.  Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Kip may be made to the National Stroke Association, 9707 East Easter Lane, Suite B, Centennial, CO 80112.
