
Obituary of John J. Morris Sr.
John J. Morris, Sr., 80, of Howell passed away on Sunday June 29, 2025, at his residence, with his family by his side. He was born and had lived in Brooklyn before settling in Howell in 2003. John served in the United States Army. He dedicated his life to serving his country and we are forever grateful for his sacrifice. He worked as a motorman for the MTA in Brooklyn for 31 years. John was a devoted family man who adored his wife and looked forward to the day when they could be reunited. He was a loving father grandfather and great grandfather, known as the "best papa" to his grandchildren. Smoking Marlboro Reds was his greatest love and passion. John never went a day without enjoying his favorite cigarette. We are forever grateful to the compassionate caregivers, Cynthia, Enis and Lisa and the rest of the staff at Dove Hospice.
He is predeceased by his wife, RuthAnn Morris and brother, Charles Morris. John is survived by his two sons, John J. Morris, Jr and his wife, Jeanette of Howell and Joseph J. Morris and his wife, Mattea of Hazlet; six grandchildren, Daphne and her husband, Nate, Richard and his wife, Brianna, Marisa and her husband, Vincent, Kira, Joseph and Sophia; three great grandchildren, Caitlyn, Jaiden and Maya.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 8:30 AM for the procession to his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at The Church of St. Veronica, 4219 Route 9 North Howell, NJ 07731.
