Obituary of Praphulla Kumar De

Praphulla Kumar De, 80, of Freehold Township passed away peacefully on Friday, July 11, 2025 at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold Township, NJ. P.K. was born and raised in Kolkata, India. He received his bachelor’s degree from Bengal Engineering College and his master’s degree from New York University. He immigrated to the United States in 1970, settling in Jersey City, NJ. P.K. then married his wife, Purnima, and they returned to Jersey City, eventually settling in Paramus, NJ. Work responsibilities took him and his family to live in Troy, MI and Baton Rouge, LA before returning to Paramus in 1985, moving to Freehold in 1996. P.K. retired in 2015 as a Senior Engineer of Instrumentation and Controls at Exelon Corporation in Toms River. He previously worked for Burns & Roe and GPU Nuclear.

P.K. took great pride in his home and was an active participant in the Bengal Engineering College Alumni Association. He is survived by his wife Purnima, daughter Dalia, and son Sudeep, as well as a grandchild, several siblings, and many nieces and nephews.
