Obituary of William Charles Brown, Sr.
William Charles Brown, Sr., age 83 years, passed away peacefully at rest with God on July 30, 2025.
He was born October 11, 1941 to William and Ruth Brown. He is survived by his loving wife Betty and children, Robyn, Heidi (and Mike) and Billy. He also is survived by his brother, Robert (and Anna) sister-in-law, Eileen (and Bob) and sister-in-law, Mary Louise. He has eight precious grandchildren, Charlie, Jason, Jayne, Emmagrace, Natalie, Clarke, Max, and Jack who adore him as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bill was a proud resident of Lakewood his entire life, and he served on the board of the Lakewood Historical Museum since 2012. He has been part of the Lakewood High School Class of ‘60 which continues to meet and greet throughout the years. He had always enjoyed family and friends gathered around for food, fun and friendship.
He earned his pilot's license and boat license which gave him an opportunity to enjoy getting away in his plane and boat in his younger years from time to time. He worked early in life at his father's Public Service Bus Terminal serving the passengers that traveled. Bill managed his own gas station in Lakewood for several years. He also owned the Candlewood Shopping Center and Taylor Rental. He became a Prudential insurance agent for 20 years winning many awards. Until his passing, he enjoyed serving his many clients at his Progressive office Bill Brown and Associates in Jackson for many years.
Bill was a member of Calvary Lighthouse for 33 years serving as treasurer for 11 years and was then hired as the contractor for the All Purpose Building which is currently being used for Calvary Academy and church functions. Bill has presently been a faithful member of Freehold First Assembly of God Church since 2007 and enjoyed being a greeter on Sunday mornings. He always enjoys the lively message from his pastor each Sunday.
A Celebration of Life is honoring William C. Brown at the Freehold First Assembly of God Church, 272 Jackson Mills Road, Freehold from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Freehold First Assembly of God (for Missions). All arrangements are under the direction of the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.
