Obituary of John Charles Young

John Charles Young, 92, of Millstone passed away peacefully at home with family on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.  He was born and raised in Lancaster County, PA, and lived in West Virginia, Lakehurst, NJ, Lakewood, NJ and Georgetown, SC, before his final home in Millstone, NJ in 2018. John worked for many years as a pipefitter for Sylvan Industrial Piping, and was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 9 in Englishtown. He was an avid reader, animal lover, and Nascar & Orioles fan. John had a passion for fixing anything he could get his hands on, always staying busy. In his younger years, John enjoyed hunting with his brother in-law Pete, playing cards with family & friends, and bowling on a league while living in Lakewood , NJ.  He was also a volunteer fireman in Lakewood from 1967 to 1973. John had a great love for his South Carolina family, and so many wonderful memories made with them before he moved back to New Jersey.

He was predeceased by his 3 wives, Louise, Carol, and Patricia; son, Sean Young; and siblings, Creed, Madge, Betty, Katie, Howard “Mac”, Bruce, Loren, Evelyn, Paul “Tim”, and Ruth Ann. John is survived by his children, Jack Warfel and Sheree Ghosh and her husband, Indrajit “IG”; daughter-in-law, Sandy Young; grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie, Michael, Sean, Sarah, Noah, and Naveen; great grandchildren, Vivianna, Rivi, Zivah, and Caleb; and sister, Janet Kingsley; many loving nieces and nephews.

John was blessed to have such a wonderful and loving live-in caretaker. The family would like to thank Clem for her special care and attention she provided him over the last 2 years.

A memorial service will be held at the Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church, 1068 Chestnut Level Road, Quarryville, PA 17566 on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 12:00 PM. All arrangements are under the direction of the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.
