Obituary of MaryAnn Thaiss
MaryAnn Thaiss, 81 of Jackson, NJ passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at home surrounded by her family. She was born on September 28, 1943 in Perth Amboy. She resided in Woodbridge, Parlin, Manalapan, Cape May, and Delaware before returning to New Jersey to live with her family in Jackson. Graduate of Middlesex County Vocational and Technical High School, Woodbridge where she studied Beauty Culture. She then went on to attend Barbizon School of Modeling, New York City, which landed her a role as a runway model for Bamberger’s Department Store. Faith brought MaryAnn and Roger Thaiss together when they met at a dance hosted by Holy Trinity Church in Perth Amboy. The two married on May 4, 1963 and had three beautiful children. She enjoyed expressing her creativity through baking, hosting ceramic classes and creating her own home decor. Above all, MaryAnn was a devoted wife of 58 years, a loving mother, an adoring grandma and a trusting sister. Her true passion was spending quality time with her family and close friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Florian and Mary Hoffman, husband Roger Thaiss and daughter Cheryl Thaiss. MaryAnn is survived by her two children, Kevin Thaiss and his wife, Debbie of Palmetto FL, and Michelle Zellers and her husband, Joseph of Jackson; six grandchildren, Billy and his wife Crystal, Ryan, Matthew and his wife Taylor, Justin, Brittany, and Kyle; three great grandchildren, Joseph, Juliet, and Luca; brother Florian Hoffman Jr and his wife, Claudine of Old Bridge; brother-in-law Norman Thaiss and wife Nancy of Chester, and sister-in-law, Linda Thaiss of Monroe.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:30 PM with her memorial service to follow.
