Betsy Dalby

Obituary of Betsy Dalby

Mona E. “Betsy” Dalby, 76, of Freehold Township, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 15, 2025.

Born in Omaha, NE, and raised in Princeton, NJ, Betsy made her home in Bath, PA, before settling in Freehold Township in 1983. She devoted a significant portion of her life to helping others as a physical therapist at Kessler Physical Therapy, where her compassion and gentle spirit touched the lives of countless individuals.

Outside of her career, Betsy filled her days with the simple joys that brought her happiness. She loved planting spring flowers, tending to her vegetable garden, curling up with a good book, or working on cross-stitch projects. One of her cherished vacations was to Stone Harbor, where she could enjoy the ocean air and explore her beloved lighthouses. Her fascination with lighthouses reflected her own nature — a steady and guiding light for those around her.

Nothing, however, brought Betsy more joy than her family. Affectionately known as “Grannie,” she cherished every moment with her grandchildren — whether they were playing board games, swimming under her watchful eye, baking cookies, going on adventures to new destinations, or heading out to go crabbing. She faithfully attended their musical events, plays, recitals, Girl Scout cookie sales, and just about every sporting event, always cheering them on. Betsy never missed a chance to be present for her grandchildren’s special moments, and her unwavering support will be remembered forever.

Betsy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Kenton Carl “K.C.” Dalby, in March of this year. She leaves behind her daughter, Alicia Chandler and her husband, Thomas, of Erie, PA; her son, Christopher Dalby and his wife, Sarah, of Manalapan, NJ; six grandchildren, Nicholas and his fiancée Johanna, Mackenzie, Christopher Jr., Caitlyn, Olivia, and Lyla; her siblings, Cathy Manly, Gordon Fisher and his wife Leslie, and Mollie Anderson and her husband Rob; many nieces and nephews; and her three cats, Kimba, Simba, and Rascal, who were constant companions.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 3:00 to 4:00 PM, with Words of Remembrance to follow at 4:00 PM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betsy’s name to Monmouth County SPCA, 260 Wall Street, Eatontown, NJ 07724 or HERE.
