Obituary of Thomas Roland Arnold
Thomas Roland "Tom" Arnold, 86, of Whiting passed away on September 21, 2025, at his residence. He was born and raised in Astoria Queens and had lived in Brooklyn, Monroe Township and Vineland before settling in Whiting in 2024. Tom proudly served in the United States Army, demonstrating his dedication to his country and his fellow servicemen. He found great happiness in his marriage of 63 years. He met his wife while serving as a groomsman in a friend's bridal party, and their love stood the test of time. Tom began his career as an accountant controller at the Jewelry Exchange before owning his own business, Pic-A-Deli in Morganville. He later worked at the Home News Tribune. Tom had a passion for travel and enjoyed exploring new places with his wife. They traveled to Virginia, Canada, Mexico City and even took a road trip to Texas at the age of 80. One of his favorite destinations was Atlantic City. In his spare time, Tom was an avid collector of watches, coins, and stamps. His collection was a source of pride and joy for him, and he loved sharing his knowledge and passion with others.
He is predeceased by his brother, James Arnold, sister-in-law, Marie Ciminello and son-in-law, Brian W. Culver. Tom survived by his wife, Vera Arnold; two children, Christine Culver of Freehold and Thomas Wayne Arnold and his wife, Lori of Bayville; four grandchildren, Brian Culver-Grossmith and his husband, Charles of Forked River, Samantha Culver of Texas, Heather Arnold of Bayville and Colby Arnold; great granddaughter Sienna; brother, Robert Arnold of Brooklyn.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:30 PM with his funeral service to follow. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 12:30 PM graveside service at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province line Road. Interment to follow.
