Obituary of John R. D'Angelo
John R. D’Angelo, 79, of Freehold Borough passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Staten Island, NY and raised in the Port Richmond section; he later made his home in Old Bridge and Freehold Township. John was a hard worker and a proud business owner of Aberdeen Auto Sales and Salvage in Morganville, NJ for over forty years. John built a reputation for his dedication and drive, he loved to wheel and deal. He drove a hard bargain and yet his customers loved him. A parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. John was an avid car enthusiast who owned and restored classic cars. He loved attending and participating in car shows, especially Lead East. He cherished his model car collection, a passion he began in childhood. He was also passionate about food, especially Denino’s pizza. He appreciated the music of the 1950’s.
John was predeceased by his parents, James and Marie D’Angelo (nee Capofarri); his brother, James (Goose) D’Angelo; and his sister, Elizabeth (Liz) Mormile. He is survived by his daughter, Tara D’Angelo and her husband, Will Fernandez; his son, John D’Angelo, Jr. and his wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Brianna Kane and her husband, J.B. Frisby, Benjamin Fernandez, Zachary D’Angelo, and Jenna D’Angelo; great-granddaughter, Emma; and his former wife, Linda.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 12:00 to 5:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Monday, October 6, 2025 at 9:30 AM for the procession to his 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 16 McLean Street, Freehold. Interment will follow in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, 299 Freehold-Englishtown Road, Freehold Township.
