Obituary of John H. Nesti

John H. Nesti, 59, of Toms River passed away peacefully at his brother’s home in Monroe surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.  John was born in Perth Amboy and raised in Matawan.  He lived in Tempe, Arizona before returning back  to New Jersey.  John then lived in Monroe before settling in the Highlands where he met his fiancée, Danielle.  Being displaced by Super Storm Sandy, they moved to Newark and then settled in Toms River in 2021. 

John's job as a traffic controller for Highway Traffic Control was just a means to an end.  His real identity was forged in the ocean and the woods.  He was a proficient hunter, master trapper and an expert fisherman, capable of pursuing the "big one" with determination and yet skilled enough to appreciate and catch the smallest of fish.  John was also a life-long NY Yankee fan.

John is survived by his fiancée, Danielle Fischer; parents, Gene and Betty Ann Nesti; his twin brother, Carmine Nesti and his wife, Alaine; sister, Betsy Ambrosio and her husband, Michael; two nephews, Peter Nesti and Michael Ambrosio, Jr.; three nieces, Justine Nesti and her fiancé, Nick Festa, Annie Nicola and her husband, Billy, and Nicole Ambrosio and her boyfriend, Bailey; many dear friends; and his feline companions, Baby Cat and Bugger.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, November 13, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 9:30 AM for the procession to his 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 16 McLean Street, Freehold.  Entombment will follow in St. Mary, Star of the Sea Church Cemetery, the corner of Washington Avenue and Davis Lane, South Amboy.  For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Pratt Farm Youth, Inc. 1705 Talley Road, Wilmington, DE 19803.
