Obituary of Dorothy Magliozzo

Dorothy Magliozzo, 79, of Freehold Township passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Dotty was born in Brooklyn and was raised on Long Island and settled here in 1970. She loved spending time on the beach in Manasquan, cooking for her family and watching her favorite programs, Little House on the Prairie, QVC Channel, Food Network and The Waltons. Dotty’s favorite role was as “Mema” to her grandchildren. Nothing made her happier than preparing huge meals for her grandkids; no one ever left Mema’s house hungry. She adored her grandchildren beyond measure. To her grandsons, she’d often say they must have taken their “gorgeous pills”, and she lovingly called all the granddaughters her “precious girls” and loved to gossip with them. 

She was predeceased by her parents, James and Dorothy Shanley; her husband, James Simone Magliozzo; her beloved son, TJ; and her siblings, James Shanley, Karen Clark, and John Shanley. Dotty is survived by her sons, James Magliozzo of Utah, Michael Magliozzo and his wife, Christine of Freehold Township, and Matthew Magliozzo and his wife, Aimee of Matawan; daughter-in-law, Melissa of Millstone; daughter-in-law, Lisa of Pitman; and sister, Maureen Mandzik of North Carolina. She is also survived by her pride and joy grandchildren, Matthew, Juliana, Peanut, TJ Jr, Nicolette, Nicholas, Bella, Francesca, Michael, and James.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, November 20, 2025 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:30 AM Funeral Mass on Friday, November 21, 2025 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.  Interment is private.  For information, directions or to leave condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com .
