Obituary of Judith C. Swain

Judi Carstenson Swain passed away on November 16, 2025, at her home in Farmingdale, where she lived for 50 years. Judi was born in Hollywood, CA to Norris and Pauline Carstenson and was raised in Torrence, CA until her father accepted a promotion by UPS of the East Coast. She attended Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrence, CA and graduated from Howell High School. In the summer of 1966, she met her future husband Bob and instead of returning to college at USC she elected to remain on the East Coast with Bob. Judi and Bob were married on May 11, 1968, right before he graduated from Rutgers University and was drafted to the United States Army.  She was an office manager for Gary Wiser Orthodontics for many years before accepting a position teaching physical education at Lakewood Hebrew Day School, retiring in 2010. Judi also started and ran a beach volleyball league for 35 years, beginning at the Cabin in Freehold followed by Birch Hill Swim Club, Denims and the Headliner in Neptune.

Judi is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bob Swain; two sons, Matthew Swain and his wife, Abigail and Tyler Swain and his wife, Trish and two grandchildren, William and Emmy.

 A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, on Thursday, November 20, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Judi’s name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
