Obituary of Thomas A. Reynolds

Thomas A. Reynolds, 82, of Freehold, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. He was born in Orange and raised in Maplewood before moving to Freehold in 1970.

Thomas was a dedicated teacher at Westfield Public Schools for 37 years. Throughout his long career, he touched the hearts of countless students with his warm personality, genuine kindness, and passion for teaching. He was type of teacher you could always rely on-steady, encouraging, and deeply committed to his students' growth.

Outside of the classroom, Thomas was a skilled carpenter who loved fixing and restoring anything that needed repair. He was a proud member of the Northern Shore Antique Car Club. Thomas was deeply dedicated to the North Shore Antique Car Club, where he was known for his passion for classic automobiles and his commitment to preserving automotive history.

His devotion to the club was evident in his active participation, mentorship of new members, and tireless efforts to organize events that brought enthusiasts together. Thomas's legacy within the club will be cherished by all who had the privilege to know him, as he inspired a sense of community and shared purpose among fellow members. Tom spent many joyful hours building and restoring his beloved cars, including a 1939 Plymouth, a 1971 Corvette, and a 1966 Mustang. He was also a lifelong member of the Freehold Presbyterian Church and a member of the Buick Club of America.

Thomas was predeceased by his parents, C. Ivron Reynolds and Sara Reynolds, and his sister,

Anne Fields. He is survived by his loving wife, Margo Reynolds of Freehold; his daughter, Mindy Sommers, and her husband, Michael, of Littleton, CO; and his daughter, Christina Damelio of Flanders. Tom also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren; Sophia, Ava Rose, Gabriella, Isaiah, Jasmine, and Shiloh.

Thomas's gentle spirit, unwavering integrity, and boundless generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will continue to inspire his family, friends, and the many lives he touched. May his memory be a blessing and a guiding light for generations to come.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:30 PM, with his funeral service to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Thomas' name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
