Obituary of Phyllis Giordano
Felice “Phyllis” Giordano (nee: Dattilo) passed away in Freehold, New Jersey on December 6, 2025. As a master seamstress, she is predeceased by husband Thomas Giordano (1989) as co-owners of “Phyllis Dress Shop” in Brooklyn. Born on October 29, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY of Italian immigrant parents, Phyllis moved to the New Springville area of Staten Island in 1970; remaining a lifelong resident for 52 years. In 2022, she was relocated to Freehold New Jersey for attentive care and easier visitation for her children Thomas Giordano (Helene nee: Weissman) and Ralph Giordano (Thelma Olsen); grandchildren Matthew Giordano (Jennifer), Jaime Giordano, Jonathan Giordano (Alyssa), Tami Giordano; and four great children Madison, Lucas, Henry, and Audrey; who affectionately called her “Gigi.”
As the ultimate lifelong fan of “Ol Blue Eyes” for over 80 years, her first live performance of her idol occurred when Phyllis was 14 years old at the famous Brooklyn Paramount theater in October 1944; a birthday present from her father. Over the years, she attended countless Sinatra concerts. On one occasion at the Copacabana she came face-to-face with her idol and she fondly recalled – “Oh those blue eyes.” Phyllis maintained a decades long Sunday tradition of not only the Italian family dinner, but also a steady stream of Sinatra music.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:30 PM with a short prayer service and words of remembrance to begin at 7:30 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 11:00 AM interment on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 in Moravian cemetery, 2205 Richmond Road, Staten Island, NY 10306. In honor of Phyllis, her sons ask to honor her memory to think of her anytime you hear a song from Mr. Sinatra.
