Obituary of Richard Allen Gorbich
Richard Allen Gorbich, 82, of Quarryville, Pennsylvania went to be with the Lord on December 7, 2025 at Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster, PA. He was born in Neptune and was raised in Farmingdale before retiring to Quarryville in 2004. Richard served as the Supervisor for the Freehold Township Parks and Recreation Department until his retirement in 1999. Throughout his career, Richard made significant contributions to the community, always striving to create a better environment for all. His passion for his work was evident in the beautiful parks and recreational facilities that he helped to develop and maintain. He was a past member of the Farmingdale Fire Department and Farmingdale First Aid. Richard also served as the Vice President of the NJ Sod and Turfgrass Association. His passion for flowers and gardening was evident to all who knew him, and he spent countless hours tending to his flowers and plants with love and care. Richard’s green thumb and artistic eye transformed his garden into a stunning masterpiece that brought joy to all who saw it. His love for gardening and landscaping earned him two awards for his beautiful garden, a testament to his skill and dedication. Richard’s love for the German heritage was apparent in all aspects of his life.
He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Mary Gorbich; siblings, Ronnie Gorbich and Carolyn Anne “Cookie” Gorbich. Richard is survived by his wife, Connie Gorbich; son, Darrell Gorbich and his wife, Michelle of Bordentown; granddaughter, Alexis Carson and her husband, Ryan; brothers, Roger Gorbich and his wife, Cheryl and Robert Gorbich; and sisters-in-law, Betty Plunkett and Adrianna Hinder.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Saturday, December 13, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM with his funeral service to follow. Interment will follow in Old Tennent Cemetery, 454 Tennent Road, Manalapan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Richard’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
