Obituary of Jean Marie Machillo

Jean Marie Machillo, 76, of Toms River passed away peacefully on Friday, December 12, 2025 at Community Medical Center, Toms River.  She was born in Bayonne and raised in Jersey City.  Over the course of her life, Jean lived in Audubon and Pottstown, Pennsylvania, before settling in Toms River in 2022.

She dedicated over 20 years of service as an administrative assistant with Devereux Behavioral Health Services in Pennsylvania. Once retired, she enjoyed keeping in touch with former colleagues and travelling to Pennsylvania to visit with them. Outside of work, Jean found joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures.  She loved spending time with her sister, Patricia, on retail therapy outings, a pastime filled with laughter and shared memories.  Jean was an accomplished home cook and baker who took pride in preparing meals for others.  She had a special talent for decorating her home for every holiday, making each season feel festive and welcoming.  A devoted gardener, Jean lovingly tended to her plants, flowers, and crepe myrtle, finding peace and happiness in nurturing things that grew.  She was a Disney fan and lover of science fiction movies. Jean especially loved British comedies and watching cooking shows for inspiration In July, she took an Alaskan cruise, an experience she cherished deeply.

Jean was predeceased by her brother, Michael Berry.  She is survived by her son, Christopher Machillo; sister, Patricia Berry; sister-in-law, Linda Berry; nieces, Jessica Degrecio and her husband, Michael, and Nicole Berry; and a great nephew, Michael.
