Obituary of Joan T. Henry
Joan T. Henry, 81, of Freehold Township passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her family after a strong battle with Frontotemporal Lobe Dementia that she fought with grace and courage. She was born in New York and raised in Staten Island before moving to Freehold in 2002. Joan dedicated a few years of her life to working as a keypunch operator at Home Insurance before deciding to focus on her role as a homemaker. She took great pride in always looking and feeling her best, and her impeccable sense of style was admired by all who knew her. Joan had a passion for travel, particularly enjoying trips to Captiva Island, Ocean Beach, and various cruises with her friends. She embraced her Irish heritage by celebrating St. Patrick's Day with enthusiasm and never missed a Yankee game. One of Joan's greatest strengths was her thoughtfulness and attention to detail. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary, always ensuring that a card was sent out to mark the occasion. The time she spent with her grandchildren was most precious to her. Joan's love for Elvis Presley was evident as she could often be heard singing along to his songs, and her eyes would light up whenever his music played. One of her favorite lyrics was " Like a river flows surely to the sea darling, so it goes some things are meant to be.”
She is survived by her husband, Thomas J. Henry of Freehold; four children, Kim Gregg of Manchester, Thomas Henry of Rhode Island, Suzanne Caracappa and her husband, Michael of Freehold Township and Jonathan Henry and his wife, Elena of Millstone; eight grandchildren, Nicole, Matthew, Jennifer, Justin, Olivia, Macayla, Michael, and Ethan; two sisters, Patricia D’Addesa and Barbara Dolinger; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:30 AM Funeral Mass on Friday, December 19, 2025 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.
