Obituary of An N. Ly
An N. Ly, 88, of Freehold passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born, raised, and started a family in Vietnam. He worked extremely hard to save enough money in order to flee Vietnam with the love of his life and his four young children after the war. The family were in a refugee camp in Hong Kong before arriving in Freehold in 1980. He would remain in Freehold for 45 years. He was a homebody.
An had a love for music, enjoying Vietnamese music, singing, and playing his mandolin. He was an avid reader and never stopped learning. He taught himself Vietnamese, Mandarin, and English. An had incredible discipline and work ethic. He kept many jobs to provide for his family here in Freehold and to support family still in Vietnam. He always prioritized his family’s needs over his own. An often enjoyed watching boxing, basketball, and tennis. He loved to play ping pong and taught his kids how to play. An was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother and will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Van Ly; children, Sylvia, Thanh and her husband, Tom, Khuong, and Lân and his wife, Sun; grandchildren, Teresa, Brandon, Brian, Kaylee, Nia, and Kai; great grandchildren, Aria and Kenzo; brothers, Thon, Vinh, and Minh; and many loving nieces and nephews.
