Albie Catalano Obituary

Albert Catalano, 75, of Freehold, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

Born in Porto Empedocle, Sicily, Albie came to the United States at the age of five, settling in Manhattan. He grew up in Brooklyn where he met his wife Sara. Brooklyn is where he lived for 30 years and began raising his family, before moving to Manalapan, where he resided until 2006. He then made his home in Freehold.

Albie proudly served his country in the United States Army and went on to enjoy a successful 38-year career as a Systems Engineer with Hitachi Data Systems. A man of many passions, Albie especially loved traveling with his beloved wife, Sara. They have been all over the world and sailed on 93 unforgettable cruises. Their most memorable being aboard the SeaDream Yacht Club 13 times. He also enjoyed golfing, music—particularly The Beatles and Luciano Pavarotti—and took great pride in his cherished 1966 Corvette Stingray.

Albie was known for his kindness and generosity, never hesitating to help others and never saying no when someone was in need. He was deeply loved, and to know him was truly to love him.

He was predeceased by his parents, Salvatore and Rosa Catalano; his sister, Maria Rand; and his wife Sara’s parents, Victor and Fannie Paris.

Albie is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Sara Catalano; his children, Michael Catalano and his wife Jackie, and Andrea Varricchio and her husband Domenick, Jr.; and his treasured grandchildren, Brendan, Tyler, and Leila Catalano; Sienna and Giulia Varricchio.
