Cheryl Vega, 46, of Jackson passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 22, 2026.  You knew from her joyful voice that Cheryl was born, raised and lived in the Rosebank section of Staten Island, NY.  She built a life around her husband and children in Jackson.  Taking care of her family was her most longstanding career, and one she took great pride in.  In recent years, Cheryl touched the lives of the Switlik Elementary School community as a receptionist and great friend.  So much so she earned the title “Superstar”.  A faithful parishioner of St. Monica’s Catholic Church, Cheryl was a devout believer.  She found joy in her pets, she found laughter in her friends, and she took pride in caring for and understanding those around her.  More than anything else, Cheryl treasured being a mother, so much so she fought until her last breath with a smile on her face.

Cheryl is predeceased by father, Richard J. Venosa.  She is survived by her loving husband, Christopher Vega; children, Sophia, John and Evie; her mother, Diane Venosa of Staten Island, NY; two sisters, Dawn Mannix and her husband, James of Roswell, GA and Sharon Chickara and her husband, Anthony of Staten Island, NY; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

 Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at St. Monica’s Catholic Church, 679 West Veterans Highway, Jackson. Interment will follow in Moravian Cemetery, 2205 Richmond Road, Staten Island, NY.
