Michael P. McDonald, 80, of Jackson passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026.  He was born and raised in Jersey City, and had lived in North Arlington, Bayville, Toms River, Forked River, Lakewood, Wall and Freehold before settling in Jackson in 2022.  Mike was a proud veteran of the United States Marines having served during the Vietnam War.  During his honorable service in the United States Marine Corps, he received numerous commendations, including the Combat Action Ribbon (Vietnam), Presidential Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Campaign Star, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation, and the Purple Heart, awarded in 1967. Prior to retiring in the early 2000s, he owned and operated M & M Roofing for over 30 years. Mike was a parishioner of the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine in Freehold Township and was also involved with Veterans Affairs.  Mike was a friend to all and would help anyone and everyone.  His favorite role in life was a Grandpa and Pop-Pop and he loved spending time with family, especially their annual trips to Disney.

Mike was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Rosemary McDonald; and siblings, Aiden, Butch, Kathleen and Mary.  He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Janet McDonald; son, Chris McDonald of Wall; Janine McDonald of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Louis Monetti, Rose Monetti, Hailey McDonald and Grace McDonald; sister, Rosemary Nolan; and brother, James McDonald. 

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, February 13, 2026 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 9:00 AM on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at the funeral home for the procession to his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.
