Sharon Claire Battaglino, 78, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. After a long and courageous battle with dementia, she passed peacefully at her home in Jackson, NJ with her loving partner Mark Howe at her side. Born and raised in West Orange, NJ, Sharon had a passion for painting and drawing. She earned her college degree from Montclair State University and began her lifelong career in accounting working for the Internal Revenue Service. Sharon lived in Denville, NJ for over 25 years, spending summers in LBI, making countless memories raising her daughter Dionne (Dee). Together they would eventually become partners in their own accounting firm, Battaglino & Company. Sharon spent the rest of her accounting career working side by side with her daughter where she took great pride in her work and was very passionate about helping her clients. A devout grandmother to Hannah, Kyle & Jack, all of whom brought so much love and joy to Sharon’s life. Sharon also had a love for deep sea fishing and cherished her time living the marina life during the summer months. Aside from spending many a day & nights fishing for tuna and marlin in the canyons off the coast of NJ, Sharon was able to enjoy fishing many other places including two of her favorite spots Alaska and Cabo San Lucas. In her quieter moments, Sharon enjoyed playing solitaire, crossword & sudoku puzzles and while sitting on the dock with friends, she would enjoy a glass of Harvey’s Bristol Cream.
Sharon was unconditionally loved by Mark; daughter, Dee and her husband, Patrick; and three grandchildren, Hannah, Kyle and Jack.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. For information, directions or to leave condolence messages for the family, please visit www.claytonfuneralhome.
