Obituary of Susan M. "Susie" Moran

Susan M. “Susie” (Norton) Moran, 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 11, 2026.

Susie was born in Newark, New Jersey, on October 22, 1949, to the late Michael D. Norton and Kathleen T. (O’Brien) Norton. She spent her childhood in Elizabeth, Rahway, and Westfield, New Jersey. A majority of Susie’s working career was as a medical receptionist for Doctors Guarino, Chen, and Wang in Edison, New Jersey, where she was known for her warmth, kindness, and welcoming personality.

On May 25, 1974, Susie married the love of her life and best friend, James M. Moran. They shared 52 wonderful years of marriage built on love, devotion, and family. She is survived by her beloved husband, James; her son, Michael J. Moran; her daughter-in-law, Rachel (Gaynor) Moran; and her two cherished grandchildren, Ryan Michael and Mackenzie Alexandra, who brought her immeasurable joy.

Family meant everything to Susie. She treasured every moment spent with her loved ones, especially the time she shared with her grandchildren. Whether she was playing with them, cooking for them, or simply enjoying their company, being “Nana” was one of the greatest joys of her life.

She is also survived by her cousin, Erin (O’Brien) Ditto.

Susie was active in her community and enjoyed volunteering as a CYO advisor at St. John the Apostle Roman Catholic Church and serving as a committee member for Scout Troop 330 in Clark, New Jersey.

In her free time, Susie found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She loved gardening, creating wooden and natural crafts, cooking for family and friends, and spending summers vacationing in Long Beach Island. Above all, she loved being surrounded by the people she loved most.

Susie was a proud member of the first graduating class of Mother Seton Regional High School in Clark, New Jersey, in 1967.
