Obituary of David Kevin Cotta
David Kevin Cotta, 60, of Farmingdale, passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. He was born in a ambulance on the way to Point Pleasant Hospital, raised in the Allenwood section of Wall, and had lived in Neptune City before settling in Farmingdale in 1995.
Kevin started working at the age of 12 at Klein's Fish Market in Belmar. In his 20's, he worked at Lanmark Group in Eatontown as a promotional developer until returning to work at the fish market. For the past 24 years, Kevin worked as the office manager for N.J. Gravel & Sand in Wall.
He was member of the Church of St. Michael the Archangel in Wall. Kevin was a dog lover and had a green thumb for flowers in the garden, earning him the affectionate nickname "Martha." His true passion was the time he generously volunteered for the Boy Scouts of America. From the beginning in Cub Scouts Pack #13 Farmingdale to becoming Scout Leader of Farmingdale Troop #13, Kevin savored every moment.
He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Dorothy Cotta; his father-in-law, Gerald Murphy; brother-in-law, James Wilson; sister-in-law, Catherine Cotta; and his beloved dogs, Daisy and Alexandria.
Kevin is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Lisa Cotta; his three children, Ryan Cotta and his wife, Christina of Hazlet, Elizabeth Cotta and her boyfriend, Nicholas Settanni of Farmingdale, and Kyle Cotta and his fiancée, Lily Keaney of Freehold; his granddaughter on the way, Ava Charlotte; his siblings, Jan Cotta, Robin Wilson, Brian Cotta, Douglas Cotta and his wife, Wendy, Tracey Cotta, Andrew Jay Cotta and his wife, Jean, and Christopher Cotta and his wife, Carol; his mother-in-law, Linda Murphy; brother-in-law, Michael Murphy and his wife, Dawn; many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Eleanor.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, on Monday, May 4, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM, with a funeral service to follow at 7:30 PM. Interment will be private.
