Ethel Oxford

Obituary of Ethel Marie Oxford

With heavy hearts, the family of Ethel Oxford announces her peaceful passing on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the age of 87.

A resident of Howell for over six decades, Ethel was a cherished presence in her community. Her journey began in West New York, and she carried the memories of her upbringing in Fort Lee and Rochelle Park with her when she and her beloved husband, Matthew, made Howell their home in 1960.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Ethel was a dedicated parishioner of St. Veronica’s Catholic Church. Her faith was a quiet, guiding force throughout her life, providing comfort and strength to her and those around her.

For many years, Ethel was a familiar face in local business, known for her sharp mind and dedication. She retired as the office manager from Lubin Window Shade, where she was a valued colleague.

Above all, Ethel's world revolved around her family. She was the heart of the Oxford home, a devoted wife, a loving mother, and an adoring grandmother and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy was found in the simple moments spent with her loved ones.

Ethel is now reunited with her beloved husband of 66 years, Matthew Oxford, who preceded her in death in 2024.

Her legacy of love and family continues through her children: Darren Oxford and his wife, Sandra, of Mt. Juliet, TN, and Eric Oxford and his wife, Joan, of Howell; and her daughter, Julie Whelan and her husband, David, also of Howell. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, David Whelan, Kyle Oxford, and Derek Oxford; and her two great-grandchildren, Luke and Lennon.

In keeping with Ethel's wishes, all arrangements will be private. She will be laid to rest with her husband at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery in Lakewood. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that a mass be said in her name, a tribute that would have touched her heart deeply.
