Obituary of Christine D. White

Christine D. White, 84, of the Brandywine Community in Howell Township passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at home.  Mrs. White was born in New Brunswick and was raised in Sayreville.  She lived there before moving to Monroe Township and then to Brandywine in April of last year.  Christine was a graduate of The Charles E. Gregory School of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse throughout her life.  A woman of faith, she was a former parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Helmetta.  Christine relished her time in her flower garden, had a passion for cooking and loved all animals.  She always worked hard and always put her daughters first throughout her life.

She was predeceased by her sister, Charlett Toris.  Christine is survived by her two daughters, Michele Vail of Freehold and her partner, Mark Lager of Howell and Karin White and her husband, Steve Ashmont of Manahawkin; and her sister, Judith and her husband, Dexter Gaston, III of San Diego, CA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 9:00 AM for the procession to her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at the Church of St. Veronica, 4215 Route 9 North, Howell, NJ.  Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association ATTN: New Jersey, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060 or HERE.  For information, directions or condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com.
