Obituary of Carmella A. Farranto
Carmella A. Farranto, 94, of Lakewood peacefully passed away with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at Complete Care at Laurelton, Brick. She was born in Manhattan, raised and had lived in Brooklyn, before coming to New Jersey in the late 1990’s. As a young woman, Carmella worked in Manhattan in the Financial District for Chase Manhattan Bank for over 25 years. She was dedicated to taking care of her home and often made home cooked meals. While at home, Carmella enjoyed watching Lidia Bastianich and cooking her favorite Italian dishes. After her husband fell ill, she devoted herself to taking care of him. Carmella was also extremely generous to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed the social activities at her clubhouse, participating in the Italian Amici Club, various day trips, the bocce league and playing cards. Carmella was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary Star of the Sea, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, and St. Columba in Brooklyn, and St. Luke’s in Toms River.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph Farranto; and brother, Charles DiPeri. Carmella is survived by her children, Chuck Farranto of Brooklyn and Joann McAninch and her husband, Joseph of Whiting; three grandchildren, Glenn, Joseph, and Sara; and five great grandchildren, Daniel, Lexi, Lucas, Mia, and Santino.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 11:00 AM Funeral Mass on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at St. Gabriel’s Historic Church, 549 Newman Springs Road, Marlboro. Entombment will follow in St. Gabriel’s Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum, 549 Newman Springs Road, Marlboro.
