My deepest condolences on the passing of your father. John was a great guy! I remember playing a couple of rounds of golf with him years and years ago. I also appreciated during my early career, when he was kind enough to do my taxes. May he rest in eternal peace.

I was shocked when I opened the News Journal this morning (June 8th) and saw that Jack Duffy died. We grew up next door to each other on 18th Street in Wilmington. We walked in and out of each others' houses almost at will. Days spent in Rockford Park. Evenings spent standing on the corner in front of Horisk's Market on Delaware Avenue in the Forty Acres, where Jack's father was the butcher. Summer daze in Rehoboth Beach. I was often in the car with Jack, Joe Lucey, Mike Shaw, John Morris and Jerry Horgan as we traveled to Salesianum basketball or football games in the 50s. Those were such fun times. Jack and I have kept in touch off and on over the years and I was about to reach out to him again when I saw his obit. I can't tell you how sad it mad me to see it. I will miss you, Jack. :I'll remember you and the good times. Nancy Butler

My name is Kevin McGonegal. I grew up on W19th St. in Wilmington and my older sister Mary Jo was friends with Winnie Duffy in their school years, so I feel some connection to the Duffy family even if I didn’t know John. From the obituary it seems John greatly enjoyed his time growing up in Wilmington.
