Obituary of Christopher Bongiorno
In Loving Memory of Christopher “Chris” Bongiorno
With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Christopher “Chris” Bongiorno on June 1, 2026, at the age of 37. Born on February 24, 1989, in New York, Chris was raised and spent most of his life in Howell, New Jersey. He was a beloved husband, devoted father to Carmine, Jimmy and Ava whom he loved more than words could ever express, cherished son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. More than anything, he loved his family deeply, and the people he loved knew they held a permanent place in his heart. His children were the center of his world, and he found immense happiness in every milestone, achievement, laugh and moment they shared together. His love for them was unconditional and unwavering. Chris had a soul that seemed to belong to another era. He was an old soul through and through, drawn to the music, movies, stories, and simpler moments of times gone by. He found comfort in nostalgia and beauty in the things many people overlooked. He loved getting lost in a great movie, listening to music, and writing lyrics of his own. Music was more than a hobby to Chris—it was an outlet, a refuge, and a way for him to express the depth of what he carried inside. Chris was deeply spiritual and a profound thinker. He loved animals and possessed the kindest heart. He felt things deeply and cared for people in ways that often went unseen. He was a passionate sports fan who never stopped cheering for the New York Rangers, Yankees, and Knicks. Whether celebrating a victory or venting through a difficult season, his loyalty to his teams never wavered. Some of Chris’s happiest moments were spent fishing alongside his father. Those quiet hours on the water brought him peace and created memories that will be treasured forever. He valued the simple things in life—time with loved ones, meaningful conversations, and moments that could not be measured. Chris will be remembered for his incredibly kind heart, his sense of humor, his loyalty, and his ability to make people laugh when they needed it most. He loved deeply, felt deeply, and left an impression on those fortunate enough to know him. While he faced challenges throughout his life, they never defined who he was. The people who loved him will remember the man behind those struggles: a caring husband, a proud father, a loving son and brother, and someone whose heart was always bigger than he realized.
Chris was predeceased by his grandparents, Joseph and Marie Bongiorno and Pasquale and Josephine Nuzzo; his godparents, John and Annette Bongiorno; his goddaughter, Andelyn Feehan; and his best friend and “brother,” TJ LaFalce. He leaves behind a family who loved him beyond measure and who will miss him every day. Chris is survived by his wife, Christina Bongiorno, and their children, Carmine, James “Jimmy,” and Ava, whom he loved more than life itself; his devoted parents, Paul and Marie Bongiorno; his sisters, Jessica Bongiorno, Amanda LaFalce and her husband, Travis, and Joanna Feehan and her husband, Eric; his nieces and nephews, Dominic, Jaxon, Leo, Viviana, and Gianessa; his Grandmother Rose Longo, as well as many extended family members and friends whose lives were made better by knowing him. Chris’s story does not end here. He lives on in the people who love him, in his beautiful children, in the music he wrote, in the memories he created, and in the countless lives he touched along the way. He will always be remembered, forever loved, and missed every single day.
