Obituary of Edward Arthur Curven

Edward Arthur Curven, 89, passed away peacefully June 16, 2026. Born February 23, 1937, to Philip Theodore and Ida Worm Curven, he served in the U.S. Navy at 17 years old during the Korean War era. Edward later served honorably as a Riverhead, NY Police Detective, where he pioneered youth programs and founded a first-of-its-kind Juvenile Aid Bureau. Residing with his wife, Rita, in Freehold, NJ, he was a beloved member of the First United Methodist Church, known for openly sharing his faith and praying with anyone in need.

Blessed with three children, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, Edward is survived by his wife, Rita, whom he married in 1997; daughters, Terri Nash and Brenda Loetscher, step daughter, Janine Johns; and sister, Treecie May. He was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia Balser Curven; son, Keith Edward Curven; stepson, Rob Cress; his parents; sister, Phyllis McKenzie; and brothers, Wayne and Bobby Curven. His legacy of service and faith will never be forgotten.
